Andrea Lemus Mesa
Senior Policy Advisor
Andrea Lemus Mesa is a Senior Policy Advisor with the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) within IISD’s Economic Law and Policy program. In that role, Andrea leads the IGF’s outreach in Latin America and the Caribbean.
In nearly 20 years as a lawyer, she has provided legal advice on regulatory, mining, and environmental matters to several institutions, including the Colombian government, multilateral organizations, and companies in the natural resources sector.
Andrea has a strong background in public policy and national and international affairs, specializing in the mining and energy sectors.
Prior to joining IISD, Andrea held positions with Colombia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy, Deloitte & Touche, and the Inter-American Development Bank.
Her mother tongue is Spanish, and she is fully proficient in English.
